IUI - Intrauterine insemination

Intrauterine insemination (IUI) is one of the least invasive methods of artificial insemination, which is used in the case of free patency of the fallopian tubes and physiological (normal) spermiogram values. During insemination, sperm are introduced directly into the uterine cavity using a catheter.

This method can be used in combination with a donation program where sperm from a suitable donor are used.

Course of IUI treatment

As a rule, two ultrasound checks are performed at the beginning of the menstrual cycle. Depending on the size of the dominant follicle, the hCG injection is applied. Approximately 34 to 36 hours after the application of the inj. hCG occurs when you ovulate, which is the best time to do IUI.

On the given date, the couple will appear to perform the procedure. The man submits the ejaculate and the andrology laboratory processes it. Doctors prepare an insemination dose of sperm, which is introduced into the uterine cavity or cervix using a thin plastic catheter.

The procedure is painless, does not require anesthesia and is similar to a regular gynecological examination. After the procedure, the patient rests for about 5-10 minutes on the gynecological chair and leaves after receiving the medical report and instructions.
